The Golden Bean is a coffee roastery based in Shanagarry, County Cork, founded by Marc Kingston in a cottage on the grounds of Ballymaloe House. Roasting operations now run across two sites on the Ballymaloe grounds, using both a Probat L5 in the original cottage and a Giesen W15 at the newer location.
They supply more than 30 independent businesses and sell direct to the public at Mahon Point Market in Cork on Thursdays and Douglas Market on Saturdays. At the World of Coffee 2016 in Dublin, their El Salvadorian Finca La Fany, a washed Bourbon, drew notable attention from Sprudge Media and coffee writer Brian's Coffee Spot, with Sprudge describing its espresso as having 'one of the most velvety mouthfeels on the Isles that day.'
