The Bean Shop

The Bean Shop was founded in 2003 by John and Lorna Bruce in Perth, Scotland, and has been roasting and selling online since 2004. The original roaster, a 5kg Probat, is still in use more than two decades later.

The business operates as both a retail coffee roaster and a wholesale supplier, with an unusually broad product range that includes organic coffee, a full tea selection, and a charity coffee range. Two blends in the charity range support specific causes: one benefits the Scottish Air Ambulance, another supports the Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) charity, with the blend names tied to those organisations.

John manages the roastery and green coffee sourcing; Lorna, whose background in coffee roasting started while she was an art student in Aberdeen, oversees the brand and creative direction. The team works with import partners to manage quality and consistency.
