Nude Coffee Roasters has been based in Shoreditch since 2008, making it one of the earlier specialty roasters to establish in East London during the wave that arrived from Australia and New Zealand. Their flagship café is at 25 Hanbury Street, directly opposite the roastery they opened in 2014, which runs a Loring Smart Roast machine.
The Loring eliminates the need for an afterburner, reducing energy consumption by up to 80% compared to conventional drum roasters. Nude works with farmers directly where possible, and when buying through intermediaries, they specify green bean buyers who are familiar with the social and environmental conditions at origin.
Their range includes organic options and a decaf. They supply wholesale and sell online, with a roast profile focused on lighter styles that allow origin character to come through rather than roast flavour to dominate.
