Land's End Coffee was started by Ryan, who grew up on the Isles of Scilly and spent most of his life near the sea. The idea came after a trip to Bali, where open-plan in-house roasting at local coffee shops prompted him to try something similar in Cornwall.
He taught himself to roast on a one-kilo machine he named Brenda, working out of a converted millbarn before moving to a 20ft steel shipping container a short walk from Land's End itself. The business has since expanded beyond its original container.
In 2023, the team opened Tehidy Woods Cafe within Tehidy Country Park, a woodland site serving food and coffee to walkers and families. The roastery itself moved again to a larger facility in Threemilestone to keep pace with growing wholesale demand.
Their sourcing includes women's cooperatives in coffee-growing regions. The roastery is based in Cornwall and ships across the UK.
