Ghost Ship Coffee is a Newcastle-based roastery run by Ben, an American who moved to the UK from Portland, Oregon. The business was started after Ben found that good coffee was hard to source in the UK even from coffee shops, and was restricted to one cup a day by his doctor, which made the quality of that cup matter considerably more.
Home roasting gave him the control he wanted, and Ghost Ship grew from there. The range is small: a house espresso blend using Colombian and Brazilian beans, a small number of roast variations, and a sampler pack for new customers.
All beans are sourced as organic and free-trade. The business sells direct online with subscriptions available and free delivery.
There is no wholesale or café operation.
