Fountain Rock Coffee Roasters is a Dorset-based speciality roastery founded by Andrew, a scientist by background who came to coffee via a conversation with a café owner in St Ives about micro-climate adjustments between espresso shots. He subsequently trained with the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe, taking accredited courses in sensory, brewing and roasting before launching the business.
The approach to roasting is explicitly technical: Andrew uses an electric roaster supported by data analysis tools and a defined quality process for evaluating and selecting coffees before adding them to the range. All coffees are sourced from farms the roastery can verify pay their workers transparently, and the business publishes specifics on how much above Fairtrade price each coffee is bought for.
Roasting runs from light to medium to preserve natural flavour characteristics. Packaging is compostable.
Wholesale is available alongside online retail and subscriptions.
