FINCA began with a wok and a domestic kitchen before opening its first coffee shop in Dorchester on 19 June 2014. The founder took delivery of the first Genesis CBR1200 1kg roaster to be sold in the UK for that opening, roasting in-store during evenings.
The business has since grown to six specialty coffee shops across Dorset and Somerset, including locations in Dorchester, Yeovil, Poundbury and Weymouth, supported by two dedicated roasteries. FINCA roasts exclusively to SCA 80+ grade and sells only single-origin coffees, an unusually firm constraint for a multi-site operation.
Every bean sold in the shops or online has been roasted in-house. The Poundbury site also houses the bakery that supplies cakes and bread to all locations.
The business operates entirely without outsourced roasting.
