Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Co traces its origins to Andrew Melrose, who began importing tea into Edinburgh in 1812, making it one of the oldest tea and coffee businesses in the UK. Today the company operates from purpose-built premises at 214 Sir Harry Lauder Road in Edinburgh, where they roast coffee and blend teas entirely in-house.
Coffee is roasted using a 50-year-old Probat drum roaster operated by hand and by eye. Their setup allows them to blend and pack coffee within an hour of roasting.
Alongside coffee, they produce a range of teas including Scottish Breakfast, Heather and Whisky-flavoured blends — a distinct product line tied to Scottish identity. They supply wholesale and sell online.
