Colco Coffee is rooted in a family coffee farm in Salazar, Colombia, and this is not a marketing angle bolted on after the fact. Angela Rojas, who serves as master roaster, grew up in Salazar and learned to roast from her father, Don Jose.

The UK side of the business was started by Joe Shuttleworth, who is part of the family by marriage, with the dual purpose of roasting Colombian coffee in Britain and reinvesting in the regeneration of the family farm. The business operates a cafe alongside its roastery and wholesale arm, and runs a subscription service.

The range is built entirely around Colombian arabica, giving it a narrower but more coherent offering than multi-origin roasters. The connection to Salazar, historically identified as the birthplace of coffee in Colombia, gives the sourcing story a specific geographic grounding that most roasteries cannot match.
