Chimney Fire Coffee is based at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey, the UK's first net-zero certified wine estate, which also holds B Corp certification. The roastery itself is B Corp certified, net-zero certified, and carries the Surrey Hills Gold Trade Mark.
It was founded in 2017 by Dan Webber, who spent several years working in coffee and cocoa traceability before setting up the business, and that background directly shaped its sourcing model. Rather than buying through importers, Chimney Fire sources directly from producers and commits to multi-year contracts, sometimes up to three years in advance.
The model is designed to direct more value back to growers rather than to intermediaries. Ten per cent of net profits go to the company's Community Impact Fund, which supports causes locally and internationally.
The business supplies over 150 independent cafes, offices and hotels across the UK, and has received three Time and Leisure awards, along with a shortlisting for the 2024 Surrey Business Awards Company of the Year. All packaging is compostable or recyclable.
