Three blokes standing around an old roaster in a garage. That was 200 Degrees in 2012, started in Nottingham.
They now roast over 200 tonnes of coffee a year from a purpose-built roast house and run more than 20 shops across the UK, from Cardiff to Chester, Birmingham to Leeds. Wholesale serves over 500 clients, from independent cafes to university campuses.
Their Brazilian Love Affair blend, a mix of Brazil, Uganda, and Peru beans with chocolate and caramel notes, is the flagship and has sold in significant volume. Barista training schools sit alongside the retail and wholesale operation, and the company has grown to the point of having a full senior leadership team in place.
This is large-scale specialty, not micro-roastery. They roast for the mainstream and make no apology for it.
